Inspections
Inspections are offered by two separate departments, depending on the type of permit issued. See below for the type of inspections provided by each department and how to schedule them.
Building & Safety Inspections
These inspections are required for permits related to construction, structural work, and regulated systems to ensure compliance with safety standards and the California Building Standards Code. Typical inspections include:
- Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP)
- Building & Safety (structural alterations)
- Sewer
- Demolition
- Solar & SolarAPP+
- Signs

Public Works Inspections
These inspections are required for permits that affect public streets, sidewalks, and infrastructure, ensuring public safety and compliance with City standards. Typical inspections include:
- Encroachment & Excavation
- Sewer Lateral & Utility
- Grading & Drainage
- Transportation (Wide Load)
To schedule an inspection: Contact Public Works at (626) 355-7135. Please allow at least 24 hours notice.
Building and Safety Permits
Inspection appointments are available Monday through Friday. Inspection requests must be submitted at least one (1) business day before the desired inspection date.
Please be advised that Monday inspections must be scheduled no later than 5:00 p.m. on the Thursday prior.
