Information regarding the November 3, 2026 General Municipal Election and the status of the Sierra Madre City Council election contest is provided below.
On August 19, 2026, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 26-82 appointing Thomas S. Denison, Kris Lowe, and Geoff Woods to four-year terms on the City Council and cancelling the November 3, 2026 City Council election contest.
Three candidates qualified for the three available City Council seats. Following the process required under California Elections Code Section 10229, including publication of the required public notice, the City Council voted to appoint the three qualified candidates rather than hold the City Council election contest.
The City is expected to save approximately $65,000 in election costs as a result of the cancellation.
Sierra Madre voters will continue to participate in other federal, state, county, and local contests and measures appearing on the November 3, 2026 ballot.
