Mayor Lowe
Mayor Kristine Lowe
Kristine “Kris” Lowe was elected Mayor of Sierra Madre in December 2025. A lifelong resident, with family in Sierra Madre for 5 generation, she is dedicated to serving and strengthening our community she proudly calls home.
Kris began her career in public service with the Sierra Madre Fire Department, where she rose to the rank of Captain. During her distinguished career, she made history as the first female fire officer in both Sierra Madre and the San Gabriel Valley. After decades of dedicated service protecting the community, she retired from the department in 2016.
In addition to her work in public safety, Kris has devoted more than 25 years to education.
She currently serves with the Glendale Unified School District as a Teacher Specialist for Internships and Apprenticeships in the College and Career Office, helping students connect their education with real-world career opportunities.
Kris’s deep commitment to Sierra Madre has been recognized through numerous honors, including the Woman of Distinction award from Assemblymember Chris Holden for California’s 41st Assembly District, Sierra Madre’s Woman of the Year, and the Hometown Hero award in the City’s Fourth of July Parade.
Her dedication to community service extends through active involvement with many local organizations and committees. She has served on the Sierra Madre Community Foundation Board and the Friends of the Library Wine Tasting Committee. She currently serves on the Sierra Madre Pioneer Cemetery Board, the Sierra Madre Events Committee overseeing the city’s Fourth of July festivities, and the Board of Trustees for The Gooden School.
Kris’s connection to Sierra Madre runs deep through generations of family and community ties. She shares her lifelong love of the city with her partner, Dan Bell, grandson of Mary Perkins of Mary’s Market. Her parents, Roger and Scarlett Lowe, are high school sweethearts and still live in town. Roger served the Sierra Madre Fire Department for 38 years and is credited with bringing paramedic services to the city during his tenure as Fire Chief. Kris’s two twin brothers, Tom and Matt, worked for the City of Sierra Madre, as Lifeguards where Tom started dating his wife, Melody, also a lifelong resident.
Mayor Lowe is passionate about preserving Sierra Madre’s cherished small-town character while ensuring the city continues to provide excellent services for residents and businesses. She leads with a spirit that reflects the heart of the community — neighbors caring for neighbors.
