Role of the City Attorney
  • Provides legal advice to the City Council and City staff
  • Prepares and reviews ordinances, resolutions, and contracts
  • Represents the City in litigation and administrative proceedings
  • Advises on land use, environmental, housing, and election matters
  • Ensures compliance with state and federal law

The City of Sierra Madre contracts with Colantuono, Highsmith & Whatley, PC (CHW) for general legal services. Aleks Giragosian serves as Senior Counsel to CHW and as the appointed City Attorney for the City.

His practice focuses on municipal law, including general civil litigation, land use, environmental, housing, and election matters. Aleks holds a Juris Doctor and a Master’s in Public Policy from UCLA.
