Lima Street Water Main Replacement Project

Under construction · Began August 6, 2026

The City is replacing approximately 1,440 linear feet of aging water main on North Lima Street between West Grand View Avenue and West Carter Avenue. The existing main has reached the end of its service life. This critical infrastructure upgrade reduces the risk of leaks, prevents unplanned service interruptions, and improves fire flow reliability for the neighborhood.

Scope of Work

  • Installation of approximately 1,440 linear feet of new 6-inch PVC water main.
  • Connection of 41 new water services.
  • Installation of five new fire hydrants, valves, and related appurtenances.
  • Comprehensive pavement restoration and street striping upon completion of trench work.

Project Impacts

Construction is progressing in 200- to 400-foot sections along the corridor. While the City aims to minimize disruptions, the following temporary impacts are necessary to safely complete the infrastructure upgrades:

  • Traffic Routing: "No Through Traffic" signage is actively deployed at the north and south ends of Lima Street. Local access is maintained, but non-resident motorists are strongly advised to use alternate routes.
  • Parking & Access: Temporary "No Parking" zones will shift as the active work area moves. Driveway access may be briefly restricted during localized excavation, but emergency vehicle and pedestrian access will remain open at all times.
  • Water Service: Any planned interruptions to water service required for final connections will be communicated to affected properties via separate advance notice.
