As part of EMS Week, the City of Sierra Madre is recognizing the exceptional work of Sierra Madre Fire Department paramedics and first responders following the release of the department’s 2025 Cardiac Arrest Registry to Enhance Survival (CARES) report.

The CARES program is a nationally recognized system that tracks cardiac arrest outcomes and helps evaluate emergency medical response performance. Sierra Madre’s 2025 results demonstrated survival outcomes that exceeded regional and national averages, reflecting the department’s commitment to rapid response, advanced care, and patient-focused service.

2025 EMS Outcomes

Despite a relatively small number of cardiac arrest incidents in 2025, Sierra Madre paramedics achieved outcomes significantly higher than county, state, and national benchmarks.

Rapid Response and Advanced Care

The CARES report highlights the importance of fast, skilled emergency medical response during cardiac emergencies. Sierra Madre Fire Department personnel provide advanced life support services designed to deliver immediate treatment when seconds matter most.

Compared to regional and national benchmark data, Sierra Madre’s performance stood out across multiple categories, demonstrating strong outcomes for patients experiencing cardiac arrest emergencies.

The Importance of Community Response

The report also emphasized the critical role of early intervention and community participation in improving cardiac arrest survival rates.

Early CPR, access to Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), and immediate activation of emergency services remain vital components of the chain of survival. The City encourages residents to learn CPR and become familiar with AED locations throughout the community.
